Austal delivered 14th ship of USA LCS Programme to US Navy

AUSTAL delivered 9th ship of Independence Class which is 14th of USA LCS Programme to US NAVY on 3 September 2018.

USS Charleston (LCS 18) completed sea trials last month and joined US Navy. This is the 3rd ship of the same class delivered by the shipyard this year. It has been a real success for the shipyard to deliver LCS 18 who also delivered LCS 14 on February and LCS 16 on April.

5 more ships which are LCS 20, 22, 24, 26, and 28 are still under construction in the shipyard located in Alabama.

AUSTAL CEO David Singleton states that they are proud of the project and their company is very advantageous and competitive because of the production process they developed in this project.

Singleton also says that they believe to be a great support to US NAVY’s 355 ships fleet vision.

Other variant of LCS programme, Freedom class ships are built by Fincantieri Marinette Marine Shipyards.
